Sean-nós (“old-style”) is a style of singing and dancing that originates in Gaeltacht areas (where Irish is spoken fluently) in Ireland. The singing is largely unaccompanied with very ornamented and often complicated melodic lines. Single syllables can be sung with multiple note changes.
