Number 15: The schliefen plan. The last thing you want in your safe and secure nation, is someone else’s troops. But as it turns out, that might be what you get. An officer, by the name of Schliefen, showcased his troops inside of France’s countryside. With the statement: “I agree with the basic idea of opening the war with a strong offensive against France” Admittedly, he had the element of surprise. But that’s even worse. The plan went into action on the 2nd of August 1914, and a mere month later, France was alerted to the rogue army. At least, they hoped it was rogue. How did they fend off the attack? Well, the Germans left their left flank open, which presented an opportunity for a flanking attack. via /r/HistoryMemes https://ift.tt/2tXGiue
